The spell of bad weather finally came to a halt on Saturday morning to allow for perfect conditions for the Blackrock tri, the high tide at 1pm allowed the 205 competitors to get the perfect start to the days racing.
Once again Kenny Dorian and his team of volunteers had the course in good shape, Brain Farrell from the Belpark Tri club in Dublin certainly set about cracking the Rock with a 9th fastest swim, first place on the bike section and fourth on the Run his tally for the day 1:00:06 took him to the top of the podium, Graham Townsend was first male home for the host club in fourth position.
Local Athlete Mary Laverty was first home in the ladies giving the Setanta club their first top spot of the season. The race, once again, this year showed the potential that the area has for such an event giving the comments that were received from all competitors this race will be on the calendar for a long time to come. Some of the finishers of note from the Setanta club were Mother and son Denise and Aaron Conway. There were many finishers from the locality that accepted the challenge of cracking the rock and overcame it with plenty to spare. Please click here for a full listing of results.
Setanta would like to thank Kenny Dorian and his many volunteers that worked Tirelessly to see this event once again run smoothly without a hitch. Thank you also too the local Gardai, Ambulance services, and the local “Outdoor Exchange” canoe club for their help on the swim section.
Everyone should now be in training for the Carlingford Triathlon on August 11th!
